I was getting ready to do pre fab granny unit total cost with separate utilities is going to be around 170k for 2 bedroom my area allows 1000sqft and rents are around 1600-1800 I talked to the planing department I may be able to build an actual house up to 1600 sqft fees and build out would be more but it would be a true duplex.

if it's just one of the office workers, that's probably the reason why. i suggest you talk to a fraud department or higher authority than the workers. no usually it is not handled by being "brushed off"
