I finally came to the conclusion that buying new offers piece of mind and the prices are so cheap you can't go wrong.  

I mean I can see the appeal of owning one free and clear (and can think of a couple of reasons) but if it can't be done at the moment it can't be done.Not sure who you are getting the loan from but you might want to be sure that if you pay down a chunk (or want to sell off one of them after a while) you can get a partial release to free up that piece. 

That $50K piece of junk that @John Hill mentioned 5 years ago now sells for $150K. 

I can't seem to make the financing piece work.

I'll lend you 75% of the money needed and even let you bring in a 2nd lender for another 15% piece.

t gets complicated as you enter your critical mid years, trying to piece it all together- career, relationships, family, location, travel, intellectual curiosity, and maybe a few unfortunate issues make an appearance as well. 

And while it looks pretty good and much improved, there is more than a few pieces of evidence that it was flipped quickly/a little carelessly (we knew this going in from the home inspection, but its a huge sellers market and were willing to take the risk and additional work ourselves).
