Those who use Schedule C or E to report their business line can be certain that the IRS and probably other authorities with audit powers use bench-marking to determine whether your line items are 'square'.Any non public traded entity owned by an individual or members, that would craft a cash flow from one owned entity to another owned entity would yield that cash flow as top line income.

Be very clear that you are just trying to confirm that so and so is authorized to be selling their home (Your intention should not be to cut them out of the deal) Just because they are not wholesaling legally (by having it under contract, doesn't mean there might not be a good deal there).It isn't hard to look competent to someone with little to zero experience, so proceed cautiously.

With our experience it was the dishonest property manager that was over billing, making repairs without authorization, billing for repairs that they never completed, and causing additional damages to our homes along with some other dishonest things.
