If it gets sucked up toward the flue, that is expected (and you want that); if it is being blown back away from the flue then that is back-drafting.Back-drafting can be solved by installing an air makeup kit to bring outside air to those appliances, so combustion intake air doesn’t have to be pulled through the chimney.
