Don't worry about going faster when it comes to real estate.

Then we had better cash flow and began increasing equity faster. 

The city needs to act faster by expanding its employee numbers and cutting the red tape for property developments and accelerate high density rezoning instead of stopping residents to help pay for their mortgage or earn a few bucks to pay for ever increasing cost of living.I proposed an Infill house on a lot just last week (lot is zoned for 1.45FSR) but the city decided not to allow it stating shadow issues however they are forgetting the large tree already casting a shadow on the neighbours lot.

You could do all these things yourself but the reality is that the professional who performs these tasks can do it cheaper, faster and with a better result than someone who is not experienced.  

We got quote from different people and decided that we would split up the two units with different contractors so it would go faster. 

@Chris Martino - I agree with @Thomas Franklin, you'll find that specifying your niche/strategy (assuming you have one in mind) will help you pool the appropriate resources to help you achieve your goals faster.

I just closed on a 203k loan- it was a lot of work and took 100 days to close (I'm sure some banks are faster.. but it isn't a quick process).

I pay extra on them each month to pay down the principal faster but I also make sure to save money on the side.
