The secure portal even  is a copy/paste.I've also seen an uptick in scam emails 'from' Paypal and Amazon saying I need to verify my acct within 3 days.

I sent my carpet cleaner in again the morning after and he verified that it smelled.

Its not perfect, but you should be able to verify what they are saying. 

I'd want to verify those numbers before banking on them as my investment strategy.
