We put in a pool, created a back yard oasis, and even did some cosmetic custom work on the inside to add some flare to the house and make it our own.

@Scott Anderson also keep in mind that most of the short term rental properties in this area ( Destin, FL) are managed by companies.

You'll cut the grass, shovel snow, repairs and clean the gutters.

Just get  some workers from outside a Home Depot and have them level the yard with shovels. 

I own properties in New York state and Oregon and I hire individuals to do work in each state (snow shoveling/plowing, lawn mowing, cleaning, etc.).

I do agree, a lot of people are tired of shoveling snow and as they get established, the idea of returning to former hometown looks lesser and less likely.

First, the project is being acquired from another developer, and that entity has all the plans, approvals (zoned RD1.5-1), utilities, clearances, county letters and such, and is deemed 'shovel-ready' by the developer, who's in escrow on the land. 

It was a full remodel inside and out with rustic flare and modern touches.
