I think the appeal of REI is the freedom it allows for average people and not so much the high life we see on Social Media of the rented, sorry private jet and red sports cars.

As people are finally starting to accept that Covid is NOT the end of the world things are finally slowing down and I should have some time now to begin my path to financial freedom.

Multifamily provides a more direct path to financial freedom. 

I may transition to a FT role eventually, but for now the W-2 pays the bills and the investments give me freedom to not worry about those bills.

I personally don’t want her name on the investment properties just so I can have a little more freedom of movement.

That is the situation as it exists in the real world.On the other hand, here in the BP forums, we are routinely inundated with requests to know more from people who are "excited about passive income through real estate" or "finding financial freedom through rentals," or all the other different slogans and catchphrases that all essentially, boil down to one sentiment: "I want to quit my job yet have a secure income coming in as rent."
