Since you lived in the home for two years (cumulatively) out of the last 15 - active duty personnel have an extension to the 2 out of 5 rule - you will not have to pay capital gains on the sale of tha property.If it is costing you to own the home it is hard to justify holding onto unless you plan to move back into that home at some point.

@Justin Bautista On a VA appraisal you can tell the appraiser and/or lender that you want to trigger the Tidewater Clause.That gives all parties involved 72 hours to gather evidence (in this case better measurements and maybe better comps) to convince the appraiser to raise the valuation.When I was selling residential real estate I occasionally came across appraisers that saw it as their sacred duty to screw the seller and get a better deal for the buyer.
