I am a new investor in the Winchester, VA area. Currently I am serving on Active Duty supporting the Covid-19 response with the Air National Guard, however, my normal full-time job is with the Federal Government. I have been interested in real estate for many years and have successfully bought, refurbished and sold two personal residences in the Shenandoah Valley. I found bigger pockets through a couple of different podcasts and have been really enjoying the Bigger Pockets Real Estate Rookie podcast as well as the original Bigger Pockets Real Estate podcast. My wife is a real estate agent here in Winchester and we are looking forward to buying our first investment property. I decided to jump in with both feet and become a Pro member after trying out the calculators a couple of times and viewing the webinar with David Greene. It seems that the membership will easily pay for itself from the value that it provides to a new investor. Our goal is to build a rental real estate portfolio in the local area to diversify our investments on our path to financial independence. I am looking forward to meeting new investors in the area, attending the local REI once that is able to restart and networking with others here.

First off, welcome @Ryan Owings! Always great to have someone with some experience and expertise such as yourself around.  Which, congrats also on those couple properties you have sold! Always an impressive thing to do.

I will admit, Winchester is a little different than Austin, but it is such a BEAUTIFUL area.  I may need some advice from you on good places to go/invest there one day!
