In regard to the issue of habitual late payers, I think there are few ways to help combat this:1) Tighter screening criteria.

Fortunately this kinda of fraud isn’t to hard to combat.

If so, then what was your strategy for combating this feeling? 

Double-check the information on your extension request before sending it, obviously.There may also be special rules if you’re serving our country in a combat zone or you live outside the U.S.

However, I imagine there would be several ways to combat this: (1)  generate expenses when this begins to happen, perhaps by reinvesting / remodeling the properties, etc. (2) at some point (hopefully much less than 27.5 years from now) I'll reach a scenario where I can't feasibly or don't feel like creating large enough losses.

Providing a receipt is a good way to combat an allegation that you inflated the costs.
