One of my own properties had a device put into the sewage inspection port that was supposed to block the drain and be irretrievable so that you would have to excavate the whole back yard to extract it.

Here's a few that come across A LOT.If you've replaced a HWH and did it without a permit, they WILL require that you get a permit (and possibly have to bring it up to code)If you have a driveway or sidewalks with cracks or areas that are a little uneven (even just slightly) they WILL require you to float itBoth cities require foundation permits on any foundation repairsThen there are the standard items...required keyless locking devices, peepholes on doors that lead outside or lead to garage, smoke detectors in all bedrooms AND hallways, etc.I don't think I can put a dollar figure on it as every house is different but if you or someone you know is considering buying or renting in those areas, I'm happy to walk through and tell you what you'll need to do.
