I am currently in the Navy stationed in Japan until 2016, so I am not looking to actually invest for about 2 more years.

In college however I had one motivating factor for going to college and that was to move to japan (because its freaking hard to live there long term w/o a degree).

Actually, @Stephen Schaefer this is far from guaranteed:Population is only going up.In a number of countries, Russia and Japan, for example, population is shrinking. 

Actually @Vallory Clardy I currently live in Japan and we're having a gray, rainy day but my daughter in Stone Mountain, GA told me earlier it was a beautiful day to go out on her motorcycle. :)

In places like China and Japan, it already is.

While I agree that this is a bad move, I remember back when I was growing up in the 90's there was this big fear that Japan was going to buy up all of America, especially after a Japanese businessman bought the Seattle Mariners.

but the realtor is going to send me a video, since I'm curious as well.basically my situation is this, I live in Japan, me and my girlfriend have talked about moving back to the US "we'll actually leave the day after tomorrow for a week long visit" so I would need a place, and I could make money instead of spending money "hopefully" if I bought a place and rented out the extra rooms.

I doubt people will flock to China or Japan for the reserve currency either.
