If it's your primary residence you don't have to pay capital gains on $250K profit if you are single or $500K profit if you are married...regardless even if you do have to pay gains, worrying about maintenance and capital expenditures for up-keeping an old house when you're trying to enjoy the sunshine in FL just doesn't seem worth it.
