When I'm inspecting a unit, I will run a blue shop towel around all drain pipes and fittings because if there is even a tiny droplet of water it will catch it and appear on the towel.Clean surfaces with a white vinegar/water mixture.

Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar. 

I currently own two properties in Brooklyn (one in Vinegar Hill/DUMO and one in Bed-Stuy). 

Pouring white vinegar through didn't seem to help that much.

I agree with @Robert Leach call the City and remember you get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar!

Distilled white vinegar will take care of it--no problemo!

It worked great, odor completely gone:Soak the area with white vinegar, undiluted.

I couldn't go back to the vinegar of my day job.
