Getting rid of smoke smell

Hi,

Just closed on a single family house in San Jose on a trustee sale. The owner was smoking inside the house so there a very strong odor. I have to take out everything anyway (carpet, kitchen, flooring, bathrooms etc.) and re-do because it is old.

Any recommendations, on how to get rid of the smell.

Once you have done everything you have listed the smell will be gone. Smoke sticks to walls (wipe them down and your water will be brown), fabric (curtains, furniture and carpet). Do NOT spend the extra money on special paints or ozone generators, you are already good! My mom was a pack a day smoker growing up and smoked inside (those were the days) for 13 years. After realizing what smoking inside did by washing down the house we; painted, replaced the carpets and professionally washed all of the curtains and the furniture, the smoke smell was gone.
