What are your new tenants supposed to do if you start a lease for June 1st with them, they give notice to their current landlord, and they then find themselves homeless for the period in between them vacating their prior residence and the new lease start date?

But I can’t help but notice the contrast of the brand new Mercedes-Benz that I drive around with my heated seats and the homeless people suffering in the frigid cold.

The legal aid organizations are severely understaffed, and couldn't take my case because I wasn't homeless, basically.

I'd wait for them to come to me - if they ever did.And if they did, I'd say that I was really concerned about people dealing drugs on my property, or homeless people squatting there.  

Now a judge can more or less do what they want, but with correct representation, their options are somewhat limited.I'm a beady eye s-o-b so I wouldn't want her missing rent to be paying for a lawyer, I would want her mind front and center on the fact she might be homeless in a couple of weeks and that the $850 is for another property.

An HA in central NC prioritizes those "homeless or living in substandard housing" and income is not a priority part of the equation.

There is a Federal Program (Administration for Community Living) that provides funding and technical support to Community Development and Housing Preservation organizations throughout the country that focus on building or restoring housing that can then be used for Supportive Housing (http://www.acl.gov/About_ACL/FederalInitiatives/Ho...)The challenge is that the majority of this funding is targeted to the chronically homeless, Veterans, and people with HIV/AIDS.
