I'm so glad to hear about potential in Detroit, it has always been one of my favorite cities since visiting many times while growing up for ice hockey tournaments. 

It has 3 Marinas, multiple restaurants, 1000 miles of shoreline and has a University on the Lake.And host many top fishing tournaments such as Bassmasters.

This is right next to the BNP Paribas (tennis tournament) similar to US Open/ Wimbledon, that is held every year during March- this event gets more attention and larger every single year.

For instance, I am in the Augusta, GA market and we have the annual Masters golf tournament.

For new permits there is a 29 night minimum with the exception of the tennis tournament (non-HOA areas).

Obviously the big event there is the Masters golf tournament in April, but I'm not sure if golf attracts STR guests the rest of the year or if the area would otherwise attract guests.I welcome any insight.

As the host of the Phoenix Open, the best attended golf tournament in the world, and home to Major League Spring Training, there are a lot of magnets that draw visitors.

There are always events going on at the beach- tents, radio stations, volleyball tournaments... and surfing, of course.  

I would on exception try STR though especially for CMA, Draft, Super Bowl (Nashville will get one soon, mark my word), Music City Bowl, SEC Tournament, Big Football Games.  

I know they have a decent amount of softball/soccer tournaments going on here (I'd imagine fall/spring time).
