This society has churned out a lot of adult children recently. 

The causes were things like the great depression, scarcity, then dual income families, then very independent latchkey kids, etc...but US society is changing. 

My advice to young investors: think about the long game, 30 years, when you are 50 or 60, don't make your goals about quitting your job, instead find a job you love and be a productive member of society!

The issue is it creates a feedback loop, that is the problem for us humans and society, not for the companies and their advertising dollars. 

I did not realize that such a huge segment of our society was like this.

Check around/google for legal aid societies, volunteer lawyer programs, if your courts offer any assistance programs for landlord/tenant help, etc.

One thing that I do think will be a benefit from the student loan debate, is that it seems that both sides can clearly agree that student loans are inflicting terrible damage on millions of individuals and society at large. 

I know there are legal aid societies that offer free landlord tenant advice - you might try to look for one of those in your area.
