In addition as a one time expense I would have to furnish the entire house.  

Don't have a home fully furnished without renters insurance incase tenants decide not to follow rules and destroy your personal property.

@Jennifer Manzella SavvaSTR's do have some unique differences from their LTR counterpart.There are unique tax laws if you provide substantial services.STR's are normally furnished by the owner which may be eligible for immediate write-off / bonus depreciation.

This was meant to be a vacation property for our family… it’s in far Chicago suburbs, and yes rental market is active but I am concerned to get a lemon of a tenant, plus the availability is only October till April, and it will come furnished..sort of of STR..
