Great info.I think random in the field blow up of water from bottom of siding is what tyvek or typar housewrap is for,,,just that 'concentrated' wetness in areas like windows and doors can overwhelm the wrap,,plus even the wrap has some pinhole leaks from staples and nails.I do believe metal flashing is way to go,,,that butyl stuff is expensive and hard to work with.
