I would recommend checking out Gary Keller and the books here at BiggerPockets, I have found them to be much better than the ones by Russ Whitney and Carlton Sheets.

@Gary P.Have you considered a NV Series LLC, where you could choose to have the master taxed as an S Corp (I believe you can do that) and then create as many Series as you want to hold individual properties, at no additional cost, and each Serie being owned by the master?
