If it was me, rather than stand my ground, I would get them a dryer one way or another (check craigslist) so I wouldn't have to deal with the headache of harassing them for payment. 

I'd also explain that by law there is nothing I can do about normal living noises.I learned not to harass a tenant about noise, if they really were just doing normal life noises. 

The lack of cooperation, lack of communication, disrespect and the harassment are not things I’d expect to improve.

It sounds like you are worried that you may be accused of sexual harassment, assault, or some other thing.

If they gave me too much difficulty I'd have filed a report for harassment etc. and continued with the removal. 

Nothing specific in regards to harassing and abusing on-site staff and contractors at this point. 

@Troy Nonnemacher -  I was super surprised too when we got those calls and /or postcards returned in envelopes saying to take them off.My fav so far has been a crazy, older lady who called a dozen or so times a day (until I blocked her) threatening to call the police and her lawyer because I was the one harassing her.  :-)Best quote: “I ain’t sellin nothin to nobody!!”

On the bright side I love  my subs and GC and we joke and sexually harass each other mercilessly - now these guys I hire every time as we have an equal and respectful relationship of don't give a d**n.

I love the new location and that I can take a walk in the afternoon and not be harassed.
