in a lot of places, the powers that be say "we need X tax dollars from properties for our budget" so that is what they expect to collect. then they divide X by the number of properties in an area, assign that portion to the properties. they make up and down adjustments depending on certain criteria. property cards are far from accurate in terms of market rates.in other areas, they send out drive-by appraisers every few years. again this is far from accurate, but slightly closer to reality.indiana used to tax based on the original value of a house. so a mansion built in 1850 for 15k  (and never transferred ownership) would still be taxed at that valuation, despite it being worth 2 million in modern times.

Pete has areas in the South of downtown and around the airport and on the outlaying areas that are all tear down and build out with two and three story homes, mini mansions and townhomes.

I figured they'd all have mc mansions built by now.

I believe the property isn't set up well for families and is more closer to the playboy mansion than a traditional family home.

We have everything from beachfront and bayside tent camping to multi-million dollar beachfront mansions and everything in between.  

The Guys at Nudge/Zurix had mansions in Cabo and 20 million dollar jet to get there.

My primary residence for the past six years has been a small but charming condo in a converted historical mansion in Glen Park, a desirable part of the city.

It feels like time stands still there which is not bad .Feels good to walk around the campus , every time I visited , I took time to  go for a relaxing run from the university down Powhatan Ave , run by the various mansions in that area and the first part of the run ends overlooking the Lafayette River !

It really depends on what your looking for. we are seeing a lot of development in brewerytown/strawberry mansion, port Richmond/Kensington,  Point Breeze in south Philly.
