Yes.  I always bring business cards.  But I really try to get to know someone a bit first.  You can obviously not go too deep at a networking event.  But I try to look for that connection...what can I help this person with...how can I add value to them...what can they help me with....is there a mutual reason for follow-up?  From there I think it's important to follow up within 24-48 hr of the event and expand on the connection.  Otherwise memories fade fast.

Thanks @Jeff Bridges.  I'll continue to explore the ADA requirements.  But if the machines do not end up needing to be ADA compliant (just the building) then the revenue splits improve.  What are your thoughts on the refurbished machines with the higher revenue and lower term?  Would you still opt for the new machines?  If the service is the same and the machines are not junkers then I'm trying to find the downside to the refurbished option.  In either case I am not paying for service/repairs.

@Jeff Bridges and others....below are two options I have been offered if we were to remove the minimums.  Please let me know your thoughts.  If we are able to get away without the ADA compliant (front load) machines then the commissions to me would be better.  I would also have the mobile app installed on each appliance to be able to accept credit cards.

Option 1

  • Certified Refurbished Coin Operated Machines (1 set will be ADA Compliant)---2 washers and 2 dryers
  • 40 month term (3 years & 4 month)
  • 53% commissions
  • There is an Admin Fee with all agreements (9.75%)
  • No Automatic Renewal, No RFR, MTM at end of term

Option 2

  • All New Coin Operated Machines (1 set will be ADA Compliant)---2 washers and 2 dryers
  • 72 month term (6 years)
  • 35% commissions
  • There is an Admin Fee with all agreements (9.75%)
  • No Automatic Renewal, No RFR, MTM at end of term

Have any of you had to install ADA compliant washers/dryers and/or make your laundry room ADA compliant?

Thanks @Jeff Bridges.  (Just realized I never posted my reply)

The problem is that I did some research a couple months back and make several phone calls, emails, etc. to various vendors.  A few responded that they did not serve my area...and others just never responded.  I'm currently negotiating a couple of options.  I'll let you know what comes out of this.  The info you provided has been super helpful.

Great that you made a profit Dave!  $28k at that price point is good.  My first flip was a flop.  I learned a ton...but would have been nice to pay a little less for that education.  Now that you have the first one behind you I am sure you will kick butt on the next one.  Congrats!
