Hi Kevin. You are in the right place (BP). Not something that can be answered in one post. But if you research and start asking specific questions you will find the BP community is very willing to help. Also listen to as many podcasts as you can. You will gain a lot more perspective which may help you narrow in on how to get started.

I’d be interested in a Katy Meetup. World of Beer at LaCenterra would be my vote.

I think @Mark Gilford needs to be there. I think we try to get “one” meeting and build from there Wednesday’s are best for me but Mon or Tues is also ok. Mark Sewell, can you set it up for a day that works for Mark G?

Well, we must make the time work for @Mark Gilford as this is his post.  :)  I cannot do the 19th.  I can do Wed the 18th.  If that doesn't work PM me some options and we'll put it out there for everyone.

Welcome @Mark Gilford (and @Cody MacDonald, @Dashon English)!  As several pointed out, networking is key and meet-ups are a great way to plug yourself into the local investor community.  As @Ethan G. mentioned, we used to have some local Katy get-togethers...and I prefer those...just a small gathering where we can sit around a table, drink a couple beers and talk real estate. My wife rarely lets me talk about REI because she knows once I get going there is no stopping...so she encourages me to get out and make friends ha ha. So if y'all are game I'd be happy to meet next Wednesday (Sept 11) evening at World of Beer (LaCenterra)...say 6:30 pm ish?
