Post: Dishonest RE Agents? How common is it?

As someone who lists REO properties, I can tell you that many agents do not complete the signin logs at the property. You can't use that as an indicator of interest in the property.

Is the agent lying to you? I have no clue. The bottom line is that you've made your best offer and they will either take it or not. Good luck!

If that information is online, you should be able to download it into an excel spreadsheet. From there it should be easy to run a search comparing addresses.

If the Feds get serious about cutting government spending, one of the areas that will be cut are rent supports such as Section 8. Even the plans run by states will likely see cutbacks as so much of a modern state's revenue comes from Washington.

This is a fight that has been brewing since the beginning of the Tea Party. It works the other way too -- if the TP folks aren't happy with something the establishment Republicans propose, they have enough votes to work with the Democrats and kill it.

Most TP people know this is a process that will take multiple elections. now we will see if their flame can last until the 2012 cycle.

Mea culpa. Unfortunately, I've heard far too many people say exactly the same things with a straight face.

The borders with the debt a close second. Rogue states and terrorism can damage the country, but it can't destroy it - even if they come up with WMDs. The debt bubble can all but destroy the country when it bursts, but we can do things like monetization to survive it.

Our border situation, however, makes everything else worse. It's a path where terrorists and rogue states can smuggle all sorts of things into the country. Illegals here tax our economy and make the debt burden worse. Bottom line is that a sovereign state has the priviledge and responsibility to secure its borders. Otherwise, it isn't really sovereign.

Tom, you need to get some fresh air sometime. In order;

1. We need to stop the "if you vote against Obama, you're a racist" crap. That sort of ad hominem attack stifles debate and is probably the 21st Century equivalent of Godwin's Law.

2. The whole "Tea Baggers spit on out brave Congressmen" thing had been proven false - even the Congressmen involved have backed away from it. They went looking for a fight, then had to make one up when they couldn't find it.

3. "Fat pig drug addict?" Again, ad hominem attacks simply show the weakness of your basic arguement.

As a Libertarian, I generally wish a pox on both their houses. I can still see, however, that attacking the people won't solve the problems. I hope you can see past your anger to agree with that.

Yeah, I know -- we're all the choir! :)

Sometimes I think that the best thing I could do with my money would be to start a school to teach kids how to learn -- just like we did in the old days. If I could teach a generation of kids how to analyse and critically interpret data that would be a legacy to be proud of

"We currently spend nearly FOUR times as much money per student now than in the 60's. Has that helped?"

I think the problem is that we are using the wrong tool to get the results we want. Our current education system does exactly what it was designed for -- producing millions of people just smart enough to work on an assembly line. Unfortunately, the days of the assembly line factory really ended about 30 years ago. Today we need smart people able to work with cutting edge technology, but our education system is still producing the [mostly] mindless drones. That's why we end up looking abroad for innovators.

Really, the entire system in America is built for that. Look at mainstream television, for example. Mostly mindless fluff or excerises in escapism designed to stupify the masses and let them forget they are drones.

Change that system, and we could be well back on the path of being a true superpower again.

The tipoff for me is when they try to link to wierd parts of my website -- like pictures in my media folder, my "about" page and the like. That's a clear sign that it's a bot just trying to stick something where it will stay awhile.

As for Akismet, it's great. Takes a little bit to "train" it, but after that it's pretty darn effective.
