Do you'll get weird comments like these on your blogs?

Question

Ok so I've had my site blog a relatively short time and posted around 15 posts before having to commit a lot of time to writing my websites content that is being design this and next week. So those posts that I did have really started picking up in visitors now (although I attribute a lot of hits to spiders also). However, I have been getting quite a few of my comments that read like this example:

"I thought iâ€™d write and let you realize your aticles is valuable for pointed out the useful truth.I really really enjoy your weblog.Effortlessly, the write-up is in real truth the perfect on this worth whilst subject. I concur along with your data and will thirstily seem forward to your arriving updates. Exactly saying thanks will not just be enough, for the extraordinary lucidity in the tips. I will promptly take hold of your rss feed to remain updated of any updates.Trustworthy do the trick and considerably good results in your own do the job and online business passion.Regardless preserve up the very good perform.Thanks a lot."

Now I usually edit comments and delete url's unless they add the rel="nofollow" in it with a hyperlink. But I get a lot of comments like these. I'm not trying to sound rude, but by their grammar I wouldn't think they would be able to comprehend my blog and hence think they are trying to drop a free backlink, which they never get. Anybody else experience this?

Yep.  Welcome to the world of social media.  You'll deal with all kinds of characters using various kinds of tricks to spam your site.  If it smells foul, then it probably is.

I think it is more some of the backlinks to their sites that can also cause me to question their motives. This one in particular was merely an auto insurance backlink, but I get them from the adult industry and a variety of others as well.

This could mean nothing except for the fact that people from any and all industries have a love and genuine interest for the real estate industry, but when they leave their name as their industry instead of a name or just first name I think it is all just for their benefit, and not to contribute to my blog.

That doesn't sound uneducated to me. It sounds like it was written by someone with rudimentary knowledge of English.

I'd guess from somewhere oriental.

I don't see anything suspicious with it. Lots of other countries have interest in real estate and lots of foreigners get onto English speaking web sites to practice their English.

I can tell you what and why this is happening, usually professional outsourcers make blog posts like this. I know because I had a outsourcer for a different business do this. They are paid by the number of blogs they hit and the number of backlinks is a bonus for them hopefully this helps.

In the search engines their algorithms have specific formulas they look for in declaring what page rank they will assign to each site based on their relevance and the relevance others feel they contribute. If people link to your site without you linking back to them, then this will drive you up in the search engines. Particularly, if people of the same industry, in our case real estate websites, link to you then this is given even more weight with the search engines. The higher ranked the web site the more weight.

Now if every link, or backlink as it is more commonly referred to, all goes to the same page on your website you will not get as much weight with the search engines. They will feel your site has very little relevant information to contribute to the world wide web. If however, you are getting links to your site for example:

then the search engines will give this more weight because various parts of your site are shown through backlinks to be interesting to someone else.

If they are just leaving links to their site, however, your site will become watered down in the search engines eyes. You know those million sites on the web "link directories" right? Well the search engines see these as sites that are used to try and cheat their algorithm formula and give them as much weight as they deserve, which is basically 0, and in some case negative points. So when people use your site as a link directory constantly dropping their follow links back to their site, your site become less and less weighted for backlinks to others sites.

Thats why I am very stingy with who I allow to use as a backlink ofrom my site. I've allowed one person to leave their link, but only because he added the nofollow tag to his link making the search engines completely disregard it.

The tipoff for me is when they try to link to wierd parts of my website -- like pictures in my media folder, my "about" page and the like. That's a clear sign that it's a bot just trying to stick something where it will stay awhile.

As for Akismet, it's great. Takes a little bit to "train" it, but after that it's pretty darn effective.

Some spammers hire cheap labor in countries where English is not spoken and those people can sometimes write stuff like that.  They have some big words that they have heard but do not know how to put it together.

In some parts of southern India, people think the word "assault" means "informally."  I always get taken aback when someone wants to chat with me "assaultly."

If you're using Wordpress, install the Akismet plugin...it will capture and eliminate 95% of these types of spam in your comments...

That's quite a compliment if I may say so. : )

A spider is what the search engines use to crawl over your site, my site, this site, and any other site and page on the internet. Depending on how often the content is updated/ visited, it can be crawled hundreds of times a day to practically never.
                    
                    Sites like BP are a site that gets crawled practically every minute of the day.
