My partner and I have been busy networking with as many wholesale companies in and around the Pittsburgh area. We are looking to obtain our first rental property. I have been in contact with all the "known" wholesalers throughout but I thought it would be a good idea to post to the Bigger Pockets community in hopes of building a bigger network. Its always fun to learn together right?

If you are or know of any wholesalers, both experienced and beginner, in the Pittsburgh area please reply or message me. We would love to discuss in more detail.

Hope this works.

Jerry Kisasonak Had a great time at the last meeting at Lucianos. I believe it is scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of each month. If that is the case I will be there. You also mentioned a meeting at Joio's in North Huntington. Do you know what day that is held on?

Jerry Kisasonak I see you are from Mckeesport. I grew up not far from there in Wilmerding. I know most of the area well but one part I do not know much about it Mckeesport. I am planning on attending the meeting on the 19th maybe we can talk a little more there. My partner and I have an agent as well as wholesalers sending us home lists and there are so many from Mckeesport on there. To be honest, we haven't given them much attention. Do you invest in your hometown a lot?

Nicole Goss Thats awesome to hear. Are you in the area often? I am a beginning investor myself so I may have just went through some of the things that you are looking to do for the immediate future. If you need any contacts on setting your LLC up or any specific contacts I may be able to help. It's been quite a journey for my partner and I but so much fun at the same time. I think you're making a great decision. Stay in touch on here as it is a great place to find the information and people you need.

Linda Devlin Welcome. You are in the right place. I am a new beginning investor and I have been a member at ACRE for almost a year now and I have to say it has been a wonderful experience. I've seen some posts on this site about ACRE not being so helpful and I couldn't disagree more. It has helped me meet the necessary parties to set up my LLC and find the first property. I urge you to get involved. The site is acrepgh.com if you are interested. Hope to see you there.

What part of the city are you looking to invest in? There are so many submarkets and pockets that it is hard to get to know such a big area. Just wondering.

Great info. Although, I have a personal commitment to avoid Facebook at all times I may actually have to bring down that wall if it will help grow my business. lol
I will put the dates in my calender and will plan on attending. Is there anything I need to do before showing up? Any sign up material or anything like that? Sounds rather informal which is always nice.

Kenneth E. I still would be very interested in a BP meeting. I never understood why there was such a disconnection with the people I see at ACRE and the people on BP. It would be nice to network with people from BP as I am so used to receiving such good information here. It is also easy to contact people whenever needed.

Anissa,
I seen that group listed on the meet-up website and thought about attending since it is close by. Have you ever went? I am just wondering what type of meeting it is and the material they cover. Either way, I am sure it is worth it simply for the networking.

Ken,

My business partner @matthewficorilli and I would certainly be interested in a meetup as well. We will follow along for any updates. Good to see others from Pittsburgh finding Bigger Pockets as well.

I must butt in here and give my input. I bought J Scott's book the other day with the intention of reading it after I finished my current reading material. With that said I downloaded the e-book version immediately. When I took a glance at it I ended up reading the first 40 pages. That is not my typical glance. I assure you I am not being a prisoner of the moment here either. The book should have been dedicated to me and all the other beginning investors. Although, I have yet to read it in it's entirety I give my utmost recommendation (For whatever thats worth).

This is a good post. I am going through driving these types of neighborhoods now. I think you should choose the best deal available. To me this does not mean the highest ROI, cash flow, etc. I think when you compare this property to your next best deal and consider the negatives (bad street) it is an easier decision to make. Say the difference in ROI is 20% to 15% or cashflow of $450 to $250 per month. When you do this its an easier question to answer. Is the negatives worth an extra $200 in cash flow?

Just a different way to look at it. Hope that helps. I am sure others will offer different perspectives as well.
