@Daniel Kong Yep. Good advice. I did that, I was approved for $480,000. I’m looking for something probably in the mid 2s, possibly. I guess it all depends on the deal/numbers.

@Ryan McNeil thanks for responding. I don’t have to live in west Hartford. I assumed this was the best town to start off in because one can argue it’s a “nicer” town than others. But my plan is to house hack for a year, move out and get another duplex or triplex. I’m going to look into New Britain.

@Ryan Deasy thank you for reaching out! I appreciate the information. I would definitely love to connect, as I’m getting started in my real estate investment journey. I don’t own any property yet and I would like to house hack first, and then graduate to flipping homes etc. I have noticed west Hartford homes are high and way cheaper in New Britain. I hear NB doesn’t have great neighborhoods such we WH. Any guidance you have would greatly be appreciated.

Greetings. I’m looking to purchase my first investment property by starting with a duplex and house hack! I would like to know how much money/price range should I spend on the house? I live in West Hartford CT and looking to purchase here.

I decided to jump into the real-estate and recently got denied the pre-approval letter because of student loans despite good credit and strong income. I’m in complete shock and didn’t know student loans would prevent me from getting a mortgage...any advice is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, the new guy.
