I highly recommend Steve Heiselman From Town & Mountain Realty, best Realtor I have ever worked with.

Hello Michael,

Have you identified what exactly you want to do in real estate such as flipping, buy and hold or wholesaling?  I would narrow it down and then start reading related posts and watching podcasts.  There is a plethora of free, high quality information available on this site including how to invest with little or no money down.

Good luck getting started, necessity is a powerful motivator.

@Luke G.  Excellent!  A new member of my Hiking Club just moved down from Chicagoland and said the same thing, too expensive.

I'm all about natural healing, I've been doing it for about 10yrs and while Asheville is a very progressive area with a lot of forward thinkers there are still a lot of 'main streamers' in the mix but overall it's a great place for everybody which makes it so unique.

Love, love, love Pretty Place!  We have Meet-up hikes down there and I am trying to convince my brother to get married there.

Bet you can't wait to move, hope you are here in time for Fall, there is nothing like it in the mountains!

@Luke G.  Welcome to Asheville Luke (when you get here :+)  What brings you and your wife to this neck of the woods?

Hey , I too am in Asheville and am finding it next to impossible to find any deals to make the numbers work for me so I am going to be investing in the Hickory area.  It is only 90mins from us and my brother, who is a contractor (HVAC, Electrical), lives nearby and can manage any issues that will come up in my rentals and I'm sure he would help you out too.

Just out of curiosity, have you spoken to any RE Agents?  Most of them usually have a 'buyers list' of investors and will notify you of any new listings before they go live.

Hey Colleen,

Welcome to BP.  I got my North Carolina RE license last year.  All I can tell you is to study VERY hard as it was not an easy process.  The material is not difficult and it does contain a lot of Real Estate law, however the exam is difficult.  It is tricky, so just read every question all the way through and then read it a second time.  Good luck and I know a great website for practice exams if you are interested.
