@Adam Rose That is a big decision. Just wanted to point out that becoming a realtor may not actually help you achieve your goal (buying property, gaining passive income). Sure you could argue that being in RE as your full time job makes it easier, but there is not a direct correlation. Good luck!

Hi @James Huff

Not an OSU alum, just an investor in Columbus saying hello. Best of luck getting started!

Attention Columbus, Ohio real estate investors! For those who have read the classic book "Think and Grow Rich" and want to harness the power of the mastermind group, then this is for you! I wanted to have a mastermind group, so I decided to start my own! The results from last year were amazing and I'm hosting new groups for this year. If you are interested then please do sign up.

There is one group for new investors (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jumpstart-your-real-e...) and another for experienced investors (https://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=19735262702).

The meetings are only $10 and we will meet 4X per year. Come check it out if you want a small cohort to keep you accountable to meeting your 2015 goals!

@Robert Ellis @Derrek D. Happy to help, all the best finding a local group of investor colleagues!

@Jay Azeltine  Unfortunately I was not at least night's meeting. Maybe I will see you at one in the future if you decide to attend again!

Best

@Robert Ellis Perhaps you and I have different perspectives on what is expensive. COREE membership is just under $200/year for access to 4 meetings a month - the main meeting, a landlord sub group, wholesaling sub group and a creative finance subgroup. That equates to a little more than $16/mo or $4/meeting (assuming you attend all the available programming). To me that's a bargain.

The price is comparable to being a bigger pockets pro member. I'm a pro member more as a token of appreciation for all that I've learned on BP than for any other reason.

The camaraderie that comes with meeting local people with a vested interest in everyone's success is rare. I've been in a lot of REIAs around the country (and in Columbus!). COREE, in my opinion, is by far the most active and genuine group I have found. I encourage you to make your own decision and take them up on the free first meeting coupon available on the website.

@Derrek D. Welcome to real estate investing in Columbus like the others have said! You will find a collaborative community here. If you haven't already, consider joining the local REIA - Central Ohio Real Estate Entrepreneurs (COREE). It's a great group, you'll learn a lot and meet awesome people. Good luck!

@Chris Armitage congrats getting started investing! The LLC issue is a good question. I agree with @Robert Ellis that you should wait until you're in contract for a property before starting the LLC. There is no need to incur costs before action. Good luck!
