They call him "The Strong Hammer" Bryan Loncar. They are giving him a close ballpark idea of what they would receive for damages. I will have to find out more info when I see him tomorrow to find exactly what for.  I am going to advice him to find another attorney. He signed some sort of exclusivity agreement with them and will have to end it somehow.

Hi everyone thanks for the replies.

JScott.

From what my friend has told me, the attorney on the case will keep 30% of the compensation of $40K. From those $40k, $32K needs to be repaid to careflight as he was taken via helicopter to the hospital. Nothing would be leftover for him. He got paid daily for the last 7 years working for his boss without any formal agreement. His boss is pretty well off having received a large sum 10 years ago. His wife was killed in an 18 wheeler accident in Keller.

He worked exclusively for this guy rehabbing his rentals. According to him, the tools were old and not taken care of. The city has an agreement with his boss and the property he was working on did not have any permits.  He did the work under his own name without any subs. No contracts existed. He could also take another approach and deal through his boss' insurance and see if he can get compensation. My friend feels lost and has spent his savings. If anyone could shed some light would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I have a friend that had an accident yesterday while remodeling a home. He had to be airlifted to the hospital and lost two fingers. He has been working for a guy for the past 7 years or so doing remodeling on his rentals and what he has told me he does not have any written agreement and has been getting paid per day or per job. What benefits if any could he receive from his boss? He is distraught, has 2 kids and has no idea what he can do for work until he can recover. Thank you for any answers

I am one year away from getting a business degree but decided it is not worth it. To be honest I could not handle any more calculus courses and that was my reason to say enough is enough. Of course I am not saying a college degree is worthless but it is not for everyone. If you want to work for someone else then by all means go and get yourself a degree to earn a bigger paycheck and save your cash to invest! Most investors are entrepreneurs and want to be in business for themselves. You are only 16 and that is great that you are thinking ahead while other kids your age are partying and not thinking about the future. Props to you on that Matt!

My parents live off Old Decatur "Saginaw Fort Worth border" and the neighborhood is great. Sadly I have seen an increase in break-ins and car thefts around this area. Saginaw is growing tremendously and I hope it flourishes within the next years. I grew up in Keller and still love the area, specially towards Alliance Town Center. Finally we will have a Costco pretty close! Give me a call or send me a private message. Maybe we can get together sometime to discuss what you are looking for?

Thank you guys. I ended up telling her that she did not meet our qualifications. I had taken a $250 refundable deposit to hold the house in case she did meet the qualifications but that check ended up as NSF, plus I got a fee from my bank. How did she expect to pay for rent and security deposit! Today I received a call from her friend asking why I did not refund her deposit. I told her that the funds were never even taken out as they came out NSF and to refer to her bank statement to confirm. The house sits in a well located neighborhood in North Fort Worth and I hope to have a good qualified tenant shortly. Seems like the 3 people that I have shown the house to either just recently started working or have pit bulls which is a no no. I understand you have to be picky in order to survive and have longevity in this business so I plan on standing my ground.

Hi Morgan N. It seems you are getting a fair deal with Chase with a 4.75%. I am assuming you are a first time home buyer and this is based on a 30 year fixed mortgage. It wouldn't hurt to shop around to see which lenders can give you the best rate. As of today the current average rate for a 30 year FHA Mortgage is 4.11% but that is also based on certain factors. If you would like some help in finding a house I would love to help.

What is a nice way to inform this tenant of my reason for rejecting her.

Is anyone going to be in Brazil for the World Cup in June? I have been waiting years to go but with a few business expenses I might have to just settle for watching it on tv :(. I want to fly to Rio and take a bus to Belo Horizonte to watch Colombia vs Greece game June 14th. Anyone have any tips or fun places to visit while "If" I go there?
