September 8th is the estimated date for power restoration to New Orleans and no it's not under water. I'm about 30 minutes away in Laplace which was hit very hard. No power or water and home was destroyed but luckily we made it out alive. That's all that really matters. As for the conference I would think New Orleans would be back to some sense of normalcy by October 4th.

Can't wait!  Just a heads up to everyone.  The city announced today that vaccines/testing will be mandatory for all indoor activities.  Not sure exactly how that's going to work but I'm sure more info is coming.

@Justin Fraser it's a little outside of the quarter but the Wrong Iron bar would be a good spot. Its owned by Sidney Torres who is the host of the tv show "The Deed" on CNBC. I'm in the area and don't mind helping out.

@Todd Bezdek I've been to a couple NOREIA meetings pre-covid and they are good.

@Amanda Vu I'd recommend David Birdsong. He is an attorney and also runs the New Orleans Real Estate Investor Association.

@Irwin Velez look up the justice of peace in your area. They can explain all of your options and the eviction process is pretty simple in Louisiana but I'm not sure how covid would affect it but they can tell you. After that the first step will be to either hand them a notice or put it on their door. That should get their attention. More than likely they are getting enough unemployment to pay you but if they feel they can put you off they will.

Facebook has a couple groups that work great. One is turnaroumd: homes for hands and the other is outage and turnaround rentals. I've had a lot of success with those. Craigslist is also still good Nd of course word of mouth. Let your renters know if you have open places because they're all looking to find a good place that can save them per diem.

Last tip is to find out where they're staying now..usually an extended stay motel. Call them to get prices so you know what you can charge. Don't short yourself but also don't take advantage of the workers getting per diem. A bad reputation can really hurt your business.

Looks like a good one.  I used to live in Old Jefferson and loved it!

I've built my own site and since I'm in such a specialized niche I'm able to get a lot of people to visit it by using facebook groups to promote it. I rent mostly to traveling blue collar workers btw.

Not sure what to expect but I have personally been working on getting access to as much cash as possible over the last week or so. Although I took a loss I sold my stocks in my account that I use to mess around. Roth IRA will be next and then last resort is 401k. I have my reserves ready in case my rentals get in trouble and if not I'll be ready to invest when things clear up.
