Hey bigger pockets! Just curious on what markets you think are the best to invest in, in 2017 and why. I'm Currently living in Oregon, and it seems to be a seller market and it just doesn't seem like the deals are here right now.

Darren McGillvrey hey there Darren, I'm currently an electrician in Eugene and I am really looking to get into real estate. I just can't seem to find deals here. I've talked to a few realtors but none of them have truly helped me. Is there a way I could get in contact with you to talk about potential deals in Oregon and where should I invest?

Thank you all for your response back. I don't know why my phone didn't tell me I got responses. But my current situation is that in actually living with a buddy who has a nice house and the other room mates and I rent out his room and we all live under the same roof and same space. It's about 400$ a month which is very very reasonable for living in a nice house. We all get along and are friends. So he is house hacking. It does suck "paying his house off for him" But I would like to start doing that by next summer. So I'm not rushing to find a place, I'm waiting to find a "good deal" which you all have provided me a lot of information on how to do that. So I guess my next question is. What type of house hacking should I do? I'm 23 years old near a college town. I could either buy a house and rent out my rooms, like my current landlord does, or buy a multi family home, or find a good investment out of state and have it pay for part of my mortgage here. There some issues tho, do I risk having bad roommates living with me in my personal space? Or do I spend more to find a multi family property??

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

so like the title says I've been getting a little discouraged lately. I'm 22 years old and I just got out of the Marine Corps and I'm trying to find a multi family home in my area to start house hacking. Everyday I search Zillow, realtor.com, and a few other sites to find a good deal, but they just don't seem to be out there.

I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places or what, but I feel like I'm not gaining any ground. But I've talked to several people who are finding these great deals around where I live. But most of them have said oh I just got lucky to find it.

I'm by no means giving up, but the direction I'm going in is a little discouraging. I just need a little guidance.

I listen to BiggerPockets podcasts every morning and I know I'm at the right place for advice. Thank you all so much in advance for your help

I'm mainly looking for a duplex. Now does your cash on cash return not matter so much when it comes to house hacking??

I mean isn't the point of house hacking so you can live for free or for next to nothing?

Hey y'all, so I had a quick question. I live in Albany Oregon and I'm looking to invest in my first rental property. The houses here are pretty expensive due to Oregon state Being the next town over. Would it be a better idea to potentially find a cheap piece of land and build 1-2 manufactured houses on that land and rent them out over buying a house for around 250k-300k and renting it out. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for your time Ana help in advance

Thank you for the response. So what would I need to do to start? Get a Quote from the VA to potential see what size of loan I can take out?
