Thanks a lot bob. Now can I take the income that I'm collecting from my 2 buddies as rent and put that on my taxes? So a bank can see that I have that extra income

Hey bigger pockets members, I recently closed on my first house that I'm living in now with a VA loan. It's a 3 bed 2 bath and I'm renting out each room to 2 of my buddies. Basically a step before house hacking with multifamily home. They are completely covering my mortgage. So I guess I'm kind of stuck on what I can do next. With my income I got approved for X amount of dollars which I bought my house with. So what do I need to do take the next step on landing my next rental? Do I need to make twice the income I make now?... so I can apply for another loan? Or is there a way for me to land a home loan that I can use as strictly a rental? Thanks for the help, Patrick

Thank you all for the advice and this was a eye opener, well I guess it's time to keep working and saving up a little more. I'm also very interested in some of the ways you guys have suggested I invest my money. I will look into all of those

Carson Halley thanks for the reply Carson, you are right it is a great area. Especially since it's so close to OSU. But prices are just to high right now. Or that's what it seems like from the research I've done

Hey bigger pockets members, I have a little over 10k saved up and I'm looking To make a down payment on my first rental. I'm looking in out of state areas such as Texas, Kansas City, Alabama and so on. Where the cost of housing is a lot cheaper then Oregon. I need some advice on where you guys think some good markets might be to invest in. Thank you!

Hey all, I'm new to real estate and I'm trying to make as many connections, and learn as much as I can. I tried looking for a local real estate meet up near Albany/Corvallis Oregon but there aren't any. Would it be a bad idea to try and put my own meet up group together? I only say bad idea because I don't yet own any rentals or know much about it.

Hey Lyle Hatch have you thought about starting up a real estate investment group? I live in Albany and I can't seem to find any real estate groups in that area. It would be a great way to make connections and talk to potential investors.
