Post: Looking for Western North Carolina Agents

I am interested in purchasing rental properties in WNC- ideally in my area (Hendersonville, Arden, Fletcher, Asheville). I am looking to make some local connections who know these markets and can confirm or correct my data. I'm looking for real estate agents and property managers- someone I can build a good working relationship with. I was told there were something like 1500+ agents in Asheville area alone... hopefully I can avoid cold calling up every office in the area and setting up meetings to feel each one out.

I've been using Credit Karma for the last two years and absolutely love it. There are plenty of other great resources available that will track your activity and project a score. They also give helpful advice and teach the basic concepts of why different things have different impacts. Credit scores are a game and when you learn the rules there's a few quick and easy steps you can take that will show instant improvements with little effort. To get Good to Great it does take a little more time and discipline.

Great response and direction to useful sources. I have been pondering this myself. I've decided to give it a go myself while budgeting for a PM just in case.

Thanks guys. I have been digging through as much information as I can. There is literally more information here than one could ever process. I listen to the podcasts during downtime at work (I work in an ICU at night) and while doing chores around the house. I just found the webinars earlier today and am already impressed with how well they're put together and easy to follow.

The podcasts are easier for me to go through as I can multitask. I've been looking for information on how landlords determine their property's rent rate potential and how to track area's rates. Is there a formula? Or do I sift through sites like craigslist and zillow? I'm sure it's easy to gauge for seasoned landlords already in their respective markets, but as the newbie I'm trying to not make the mistake on guessing with emotion.

Again, thanks for the welcome!

I am closing on my first property purchase on Sept 1st. It is my primary residence and I've been excited about the entire process and now I want to buy 10 more! I have been reading BP blogs/posts/podcasts for two weeks and soaking in all the information I can. My grandparents just purchased a duplex in south Florida to supplement their retirement so I'm really motivated to learn as much as I can to help them with their goals and start towards my own.  I have been focusing on how to analyse deals and just became an annual Pro member- the calculator and pdf spreadsheet really sold me on that alone.

I am a Veteran. When I got out of the Army I went to Nursing School. I now work as a Registered Nurse in the ER and ICU. I live in Western North Carolina (30 mins south of Asheville). I have a lot of family (including general contractor, handymen, dock builder, home builders) in SE Florida.

My goals are to buy and hold rental properties- my comfort level currently would be to do this in areas I am familiar with and have connections in. I think I have a decent start to a team (family members) in SE Florida that can help with some of this.

I look forward to joining the community, learning as much as I can, and one day contributing back with my experience and what I learn.
