I had $30,000 ready to invest a year ago......HAD!  Where did it all go?  Grandmother's funeral, other unexpected life expenses.

That freaking job of mine.  That dead end 9 to 5 life and time waster at a New York City agency.  My savings are gone, I'm 46 but still feel like a 26 year old intern with no progress in my life.  They keep loading me with responsibility with ever increasing stress.

I've had it.

I'm ready to do something crazy and different....I need to do something before it's really too late and I get too old to chase dreams.

I think I know what I want but my mind is clouded by stress and I can't see it all clearly yet. The parents are getting older and they've asked me for help. Perhaps I can start all over and temporarily move back in with them to save on rent while I have a chance to seek out BP mentors in the Florida market that would take me under their wing and expose me to the business. I've got a resume ready and I'm looking for accounts payable positions in the Orlando, Florida area that would help pay my bills while I learn about REI. I think the prospects of positioning myself down the road for REI in the Florida markets might be better or at least easier to initiate than for a beginner in the New York markets.

@Account Closed @Paula Pant and anybody else who may have creative ideas on how my life can possibly go this year.

I thank you all.

Well I'm investigating the possibility of becoming an investor in the future and I am currently searching for as many mentors in the central Florida area that I can work with.  I am glad to know of all of you.

@Kuba F. I appreciate the encouragement. But even though I care for the parents I wouldn't want to move down without a good plan in place. What if I suck at wholesaling? This is a risk for me. It's 2017. I am sick and tired and want a change. And yes, while I do love the parents it will be difficult living under one roof again...very difficult. But I am willing to do this if this opens up an opportunity for me to have a eureka moment and ignite in me inspiration for REI. I would like my life to be drastically different and for the better one year from now.

Hey there @Account Closed

You're advice on this thread has been very impressive.  I was hoping I can get some of your advice too.

I'm stuck in a dead end job in New York living paycheck to paycheck with no real savings to speak of.  I'm tired of it and I want a change in 2017.

I am strongly considering swallowing my pride and relocating to Orlando, Florida and temporarily move in with the parents which would give me an opportunity to give myself a new start.  It will mean a pay cut but I'm not saving anything with my New York expenses anyway.  I wouldn't have to pay rent if I relocated to Florida with the parents which should help in my savings funds (plus the folks are not well and is another reason I want to move).  I want to hook up with a BP member there who is running a wholesaling mentoring program which would be an opportunity for me to learn about the local market in Orlando while hopefully raising funds I can use for rental purchases later in the year.

I intend to look for an accounts payable/financial clerk position so I can pay for my expenses in the meantime.  That is the overall plan.

I was hoping if you could help hammer out a better plan.  Perhaps you might have a better idea.  Perhaps I could enter a real estate industry type job so I can pay my bills while simultaneously learning the market.

I hear wholesaling is extremely difficult.  Perhaps wholesaling is not the way to go.  Are there names of any mentors you know that would be willing to take me under their wing in the Florida area or New York area?

Hi!!

I am also a New Yorker and I am SERIOUSLY thinking about taking a big risk in my life and relocating to Florida.  I have a long term goal to invest in real estate and planning on checking out @Account Closed 's mentoring program over in the Orlando area.  I'm getting a resume ready to look for some administrative or clerical work to handle my expenses in the meantime.  I know I'm looking at a pay cut here but the years are going by quickly and if I don't make a daring move now to change my life it may never happen.

I'll be staying by the folks who are already settled in the area to save on rent costs until I can get myself on my feet come up with a more solid game plan for the year.  Part of the reason I want to move is that the parents, especially mom, are starting to have a little trouble taking care of their everyday needs.  They are in their early 70's and with mom's medical condition it's starting to get a little hard for them.

For me it's a long story Karoline.  It's ridiculously risky but I need to do this.  Perhaps we'll meet some day although you will be way north than me.  Good luck to us all.

I wish I had started when I was your age kid.  I've wasted decades now I'm finally deciding to get into the game.  And even so, I won't be able to acquire a house for investing until much later in the year.  I have planning to do and things will have to happen in stages especially since I will have to get creative on the financing as well as be under the guidance of multiple mentors.

Something tells me you are going to successful.  Still though, I also would like to read this thread as more people start advising you.

*sigh*  See, that is where the analysis paralysis comes from at least from my observations.  People starting out don't want to immediately lose a ton of money.  Yet, I have a feeling I'm going to end up making a whole bunch of mistakes to start off.  There is just too much information on this site alone to absorb and I don't have time to study all of it.  Must I accept that I will be making many rookie mistakes?  This is why I need mentors guiding me from making retarded mistakes.  LOL

I have not actually lost money yet but lets see what happens.  =)

Hey, does anybody know how the Florida markets are doing?  I have my eye on the Jacksonville area for investing in the future.  Tampa and Orlando are interesting to me as well.

Hey there.  Can I read the blogs too?  Where is the site?  Oh, and tell me more about your bird dogging car magnet opportunity?  I'm thinking of moving to the Orlando, FL area.  Do you buy out there was well?

I also have the feeling that I might hate wholesaling too.  But I am new to investing and I need a way to raise cash.  I suppose I have to pay my dues and get myself an education somehow right?
