In Las Vegas where close to half of all closing are cash, it'll have little to no effect ..... in Portland, Oregon it may slow starter home sales a bit but interest rates remain at historic lows which helps.

Building has re-started where I live .... market appears to have thawed and showings signs of life. Anyone have success finding a lot(s) that may have been abandoned say 2-3 years ago where they picked up on the cheap and re-sold to a builder?

There are now millions MORE homes in jeopardy with more problems to come. As article explains, it normally takes 6-7 months of missed payments before lenders start foreclosure. Millions of homes are falling into that area now. Lenders are still not lending, which means purchases must be for cash.
It is also obvious that many lenders have been delaying foreclosures and then delaying resale of these REOs. These HAVE to hit the market sometime!

Hearing or reading news like this excites me ... means the window of opportunity on buying cashflowing properties remains wide open for awhile. Buy, get tenant, build up reserves, buy, get tenant, build up reserves ....
