@John Knisely thanks for the response! Due to certain time constraints at the moment with the small business I co-own, it seems that online would be the best option for me; however, it is nice to see some local faces on the forums!

@David Ribardo Thank you for the feedback! I have had a few recommendations for Kaplan now and it seems I may be leaning in that direction.

Post: What is your REI WHY?

Last Wednesday (7/26/16) @Brandon Turner hosted his weekly webinar and the topic was about Rental Property Investing. He named five "Rights" during the webinar and identified one of the rights as having "The Right Hustle." He asked those of us listening to think about our "why." Why do we want to invest in real estate?

So I pose the question to the BP community. What is your why? Has your why changed over time? Do you have multiple?

My why(s):

  • The prototypical financial freedom we all seek. But it is more about what the freedom offers me: A life that has the ability to be full of time for the things I care about. Those things are my loved ones, adventure,  and experience.
  • As a lifelong athlete, I love and thrive in a competitive environment. I find the field of real estate to be just as competitive as any sport I have taken part in. The competition drives and excites me.

I look forward to hearing about your WHY!

Hi All,

I am looking into obtaining my PA real estate license. Having searched the forums I could not find any recent posts on experiences comparing the approved courses on The PA Department of State Approved Education Providers. Having said that, I have narrowed my choices down to three different course providers: The CE ShopSuburban West Realtors Association, or Kaplan Real Estate Schools.

Has anyone had experience with the courses I listed? Furthermore, if you have what was it like?

I am open to any suggestions and would love to hear your opinions.

From what it is worth, I currently live in the West Chester area outside of Philadelphia.

I am excited to further myself along this real estate journey and hope to call you all colleagues in the near future!

Hey all,

The TL;DR for this post: I am curious if there are any known part-time jobs in the field of Real Estate that could potentially help a would-be investor make some cash on the side, as well as getting the first-hand experience in Real Estate. This is NOT an attempt to solicit any jobs, but simply some ideas for jobs from which I could start investigating!

About me:

My name is Noah, I am a 23-year-old small business owner from the Southeastern Pennsylvania area who wants to get involved with REI while I am still in my early or mid-twenties.

I have goals, both short, medium, and long-term (which are outlined in my profile)that I intend on reaching in due time. At the moment I am still in what I would describe as the "education" phase of REI. Consuming all the available info made obtainable by BP, reading quality books/blogs, analyzing deals to gain experience, and attempting to follow the footsteps of those who have performed so well before me.

Currently, my business operates 5 days a week (M,T,Th,F,S) in the early mornings (waking up @ 3-4 am) and we finish our work day reliably around 1-2 pm. This leaves me with a lot of time during the day. Aside from maintaining a happy relationship, my time has been spent @ the gym, consuming REI info, and resting.

But I know I can optimize my time to better help myself, my loved ones, and my goals!

What I have done: I have reached out to multiple agents/brokers in my area whom I have met at some point, offering to help them (for free of course) with any projects they could use helping-hand with. I am thinking simple manual labor, helping with staging, answering/returning calls for them, etc.

What I have not done: I have not reached out to any real estate investors, simply because I do not know any, or at least I do not know that they are real estate investors. My current goal is to network my butt off, get my name out there, and see what comes of it.

I would love to find an opportunity for part-time employment that would allow me to generate some extra income on the side while getting me some much-needed firsthand experience in real estate! Any ideas on possibilities would be great.

I am grateful for anyone who took the time to read this post. Good luck to you all in your ventures!

Benjamin Lin Makes perfect sense to rehab and flip if you like turning the old into the new! As far as my investments go I see myself investing in my general area of PA, which is the southeastern portion generally consisting of the suburbs surrounding Philadelphia OR in the northern part of Delaware, since I live so close to the border between the two states. I guess the market and my criteria will dictate where my investments are made! That being said, long-term I do not see myself tied down to this area as I am still in my early twenties. Time will tell. Best of luck to you on all of your endeavors!
