If you haven't already, I would strongly suggest looking into Detroit , Michigan as a market for out of state investing. With the right understanding of the pros and cons of the market and the right team, it could make for a great place to invest.

I also invest in Michigan (specifically in the Detroit , MI marketplace).

Question is indeed broad. However, if you are just looking for recommendations on what banks other investors are using, I am happy to throw my vote in.

I would honestly recommend you open an account with chase bank.

I'll be another guy in here to throw my vote in for Detroit Michigan. With the right team in place, it makes for a promising market to get into at the moment.

Agreed! My wife and I rent in Newport Beach CA during the winter...But we OWN 131 rentals here in Metro-Detroit! Love Michigan for solid appreciation, value add deals, and decent pricing compared to the rest of the nation.

Yep, but I think Detroit proper is where people need to be focusing on at the moment. There is for sure a lot of great things happening in Detroit.

Hi Meghan, I don't believe so. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of the super large PMs tend to run on super thin margins and aren't high quality. I would recommend posting in local investor groups on Facebook or searching google. Definitely do your research and make sure to interview your PM. On the other hand, have you considered self-managing? I am a big believer on self-managing with the right systems and processes until you can hire an internal PM. This is what I did in my business. You'll likely double your cash flow and have a lot higher quality of tenant and property... Just a thought!

I second this. start on local investor groups on Facebook. You should get quite a bit of references from there .

Join your local real estate investor Facebook groups. I would start there. Many of the groups on Facebook have a good amount of investors that are local to your marketplace. Perhaps, introduce yourself on there and then even attend some in person meetups. It should help build your network.

Well, as I say for any out of state investing, make sure you have a proper team in place before buying a property out of state. To me, the right team is one that is going to tell you things you do not want to hear, the pros, the cons, the ins and outs of the market you are about to get into. They are also going to be honest and transparent in the process, even if that means putting you off to the marketplace as a whole. You could also always find a turnkey provider, that could help from A-Z with the process. That would save you the efforts of having to build a team.

Perhaps join your local real estate investor group on Facebook. Also you can join the Michigan real estate investor group on Facebook as well. Start attending meet ups and maybe even introduce yourself on there. It could help strengthen your network and make contacts with people that could help.
