i just built a deck out of TREX in my backyard. I am very happy with it so far. I did not use the type with the hidden fasteners, so I cannot speak to that, but it went together very easy. My only complaint was that they will sell you these special screws to use that are suppose to just seat themselves into the planks (without making it bubble up on top). This is not the case. After screwing around with it for about an hour (they would strip and I went through several bits) I ended up pre-drilling every hole to get around this. Looks great now, but was a real back breaker at the time :)

when working with composite materials pre-drill EVERYTHING including railing system...i have timbertech and needs to be power washed at least once a year

i do exterminating myself
mice- got to find the holes and be tedious and make house tight i had to go into basement and spray foam all holes and cracks(city inspector said that was how mice were getting in) and if a row home foam drill holes in wall at corner by baseboard against party walls and fill with spray foam this is where mice go from home to home.

roaches- maxforce(combat) .05% fipronil off ebay, the stuff in stores is .01%

american roaches gone in 2-3 days, german roaches gone in about 1-2 weeks. works great on ants too.

most of my houses have very little yard i gotta weed wacker, but in most cases they cut it

and by the way i was on orleans st today visiting a friend

learn as much as you can, none of it is that
difficult. sometimes the hardest part is putting the stuff in the truck and taking it out and putting it where you need it.
there are a lot of diy videos on Youtube on virtually every home improvement. a couple of weeks ago i put in laminate flooring, and a gas tankless water heater from watching videos
