I am in Columbia SC and I have been on Furnished Finders for over two years. I just bought a 2/2 condo and remodeled it. I really like the information on FF regarding stats for my area. If you want to hear about how other people have made it work for them, FF has a podcast called the Landlord Diaries. There is a wealth of information on that podcast.

Hello All. I have been learning about REI for the last 6 months or so. Thank goodness for BP. I have finally nailed down the direction I want my portfolio to go which is multi family units (10+ doors) starting out in Jax FL. However, I have questions. Any advice about whether I should take the money out of the rollover IRA from my ex husband's 401k or just borrow from it would be great. Also, I am really interested in building a diversified team of people willing to give, receive, and grow as individuals while growing all of our portfolios. I am seriously excited about moving forward in this next chapter of my life. My goal for tomorrow is to try to find a RE networking group less than an hour away from me which has so far been a challenge. Wish me luck!

@Mike Krieg. Thank you for your sentiments. This is a very difficult time for myself and the whole of my family. The grief is sometimes overwhelming. I think learning how to invest in real estate helps me look at the future more positively. I will research all that you said in your post as I had never considered self storage and partners. I will have to learn how to do all that and what that means tax wise and even how to set up the company. An LLC? An S Corp? Etc. I am really looking forward to this new endeavor. Thank you so much for responding and your willingness to share your knowledge.

@Oleg Shalumov. Thank you so much for your wisdom. After listening to you and others, it sounds like investing in 4 plexes is the way to go for me. I was toying with that right from the start but wondered if that would be getting in over my head being a newbie, but now I am rethinking that and leaning towards the multi units. One thing I know that I will do is have the properties managed even though it will cut into my profit. I am also a licensed massage therapist and love what I do so would like to still have my hands (pun intended) in that as well. Thanks again!

@Alina Trigub Thank you for your advice. I need to learn all about active and passive investing. There are so many avenues to go and every day I learn about even more! I have some homework to do for sure.

@ismael Reyes I have considered it and found a quad in Jacksonville I want to look at on Friday. Thank you so much for your input. I will do my research and try to find a mentor.
