So my thoughts are to buy approx. 4 small single family homes that are already rented out and will produce a small monthly income. Then, as I'm learning the business, move into triplexes and quads that are rented or mostly rented. In this time period, my goals are to be involved in rei meetups and find people I can trust to be contractors, property managers, RE accountants, etc. I want to be sure I crunch the numbers correctly and use the money wisely. Thank you so much for responding. I have a feeling I am supposed to be asking this question in the newbe forum so I appreciate your input.

I am going thru a divorce and will end up with a chunk of change. I have heard that real estate investing is a good thing to do. My goals are to buy at the low end several properties and have them rented out and managed by others. I just want residual income by the time I hit 65 which is in 10 years. Looking in the areas of Lithonia GA and Jacksonville. Currently living in Palm Beach County, FL. Any feedback on whether this is a good plan or not (and why or why not) would be great. Thanks so much.
