Post: Becoming a Real Estate Agent to gain experience

Hello BP

My two part question is 1. Could becoming a real estate agent be vehicle to give me immense hands on experience to help me learn more about investing? 2. Can you hold a real estate license and wholesale in the Detroit/surrounding areas.

I have been reading and reading and reading about wholesaling but because of the negative attitudes in the real estate investing towards wholesalers I wondered if having my real estate license and selling some properties could help me ease into investing.

I have a burning passion for a real estate but this route would ultimately require me to change to careers (currently in IT) just wanted to have some more insight from you guys. Thanks in advance to anyone that replies.

Thanks for the advice @J Scott I plan to be that person that's consistent and determined to change there outlook. But most importantly have some solid deals to pass on to investors in that REIA, I know with those things they will respect what I'm tying to do.

Hi, I was wondering if you'd found a meeting you felt more comfortable in yet? I go to a meeting that has experienced wholesalers with integrity.  I'm new to investing and also live in Southfield, let me know if you'd like to connect.

Hey @Lynn Lewis I think I'm going to go back to that REIA, eventually I would like to win them over and be the WHOLESALER them come to for deals. But that still wouldn't stop us from connecting in the future.

What's going on BP?!

I went to my first REI meeting in august and it was pretty intimidating lol. I kind of felt lost because on one end I'm sitting here taking it all in, realizing that this is a great network place but also thinking when I tell people that I'm a NEWBIE and I want to get into wholesaling I would probably just get brushed off. Seems to be a bad stigma on wholesalers in the Metro Detroit area and talking to experience investors with no deals and little knowledge seem like I would have just added to that stigma.

I'm looking to attend  this month meeting not sure if going to become a member just yet, I'm definitely taking it upon myself to introduce myself to people and let them know what I'm trying to do as RE and that I'm trying to di it the right way because I want to help people and be successful.

Not yet, I know the area I want to market to but I have been having trouble to decide if should use yellow letters and what to put on them if I do.

That's Great on the 5 deals, much success to you in the future. @Andrew Abbott
