I guess I'm talking about a 2 yr. university program rather than books, guru material, and all that jazziness. Here's a few in the BP Resources:

* Cornell University Program in Real Estate - Ithaca, NY
* Northwestern University Real Estate Management Program - Evanston, IL
* University of California at Berkeley Haas School of Business Real Estate Group - Berkeley, CA
* University of Pennsylvania Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at Wharton - Philadelphia, PA
* University of Southern California (USC) Lusk Center for Real Estate - Los Angeles, CA
* University of Wisconsin at Madison Center for Real Estate - Madison, WI

On these websites, they do show the curriculum (i.e. 3 units for Real Estate Law, 3 units for Real estate... etc.), but they don't go into specifics on any of the classes. In concentrations under the Cornell University Program they offer "Hospitality Real Estate Finance", "Valuation Principles"... etc. So I guess these classes seem alright, but they do seem a bit broad.

It's never too late for a thanks. so thanks for the review. I recently bought his material on ebay for $125. It sounds like it's worth the investment to a beginner like myself.

I haven't found many reviews on programs, colleges, or universities in the BP forums (unless I missed it). Anyone here received or is currently receiving an education in RE? If so, where? What was your expertise? Price of education? How was your experience? What do you recommend?

I was an estimator and insurance adjuster. This is a great background for being a landlord.

Searching for small problems are fine for me, but one challenge is checking for serious "oh goodness, why didn't I see that?" damages. Is there some kind property track record database for properties? In any case, what does your typical walkthrough look like? Any tips or tricks would be tony-the-tiger great.

Reality,

How often do you come across serious fixes that were unforeseen? Are they usually electrical/plumbing for you? How much on average do these serious fixes cost?

ahh i see.

So if the man owes 120k, will I be able to negotiate around that price or will it just help me negotiate 60-70% ARV?
