Everett Brace it's really easy to go to the MD assessors website and look up by address. Just google 'maryland assessors'.

Hey Ned Carey which website is the MD Judiciary Case Search on?

Mike Osterman what kind of information do you look for to determine equity?

Wow! Congrats and good luck on future successes. Btw, what is your website? Maybe you should include it in your signature.

Hey Rachel,

I'm not sure how to help, besides posting on craigslist, on REIA pages or here on BP to find wholesalers/rehabbers that might be in that area, but as a newbie I was wondering how was this lead generated?

This is a great question and one I didnt even consider while 'DFD'. Would love to hear an experienced opinion on this.

Post: Approaching an Estate Sale

I was 'driving for dollars' today and noticed an estate sale in my neighborhood and there was no realtors sign in the yard, so I started thinking. How would I approach the estate to ask if the property was for sale? If the property owner is deceased, is the probate PR in attendance at an estate sale? Is this even a good idea?

Then I started thinking that the reason for an estate sale before selling the house is so you don't have to try to figure out what to do with the things in the house.

Has anyone ever approached an estate sale and inquired about the property itself? Enlighten me if you have please as I am thinking this may be another strategy to use when 'driving for dollars'.

This is a very interesting topic and in the interest of future reference, would another viable option, besides closing early or escrowing the closing costs, be to market to other buyers even if you already have a current buyer and just let them know there is a chance the current deal could fall through?

Post: Meet Up Now in Maryland

I have been reading and researching for about a week now and I feel like I would grasp so many more concepts if I could speak to someone who has been through the process before. I would like to discuss wholesaling, specifically lead generation and negotiating, as well as investing in multifamily property and using IRAs for investing. This would also provide me an opportunity to grow a buyers/sellers/mentors list. Doesn't matter to me if you have done one deal or hundreds. Anyone is welcome.

Would anyone be interested in a impromtu meetup today, maybe at a coffee shop or library? I am in Silver Spring and would like to get a jump on this now as opposed to just waiting for REI meetups.

I will be out and about today, so please contact me on GoogleTalk or Twitter, both of which are in the contact tab of my profile if you are interested.

Thanks in advance.

Reading through this thread for the second time has me excited for the meetup. Like a couple others have said, I don't have any real estate experience to offer, but I am eager to learn and determined to succeed.

I'd love to hear how your careers started, more information about wholesaling, which is where my interest lies, make connections and find a mentor.

If I'm not mistaken, the meetup has been postponed until the 29th. Jason can you verify?

Welcome Justin. Happy to say I appreciate your service to the country. My grandfather and father both served as well. Also glad to see other young people interested and ready to take advantage of RE. Wish you the best and would love to share any experiences we encounter.
