Do you hire an accountant to file your taxes? I would not see why not! However, I would ask them and see how much of it you can deduct.

Well, for starters, I would love to say that you have made it to the right place. Bigger Pockets has given me an eternity worth of answers and solutions supported by rookies and multi-millionaires that are rooting for everyone's success! The nice thing about real estate investing is that there are SO many opportunities and strategies to help support your short and long term goals. What are you trying to achieve short and long term? What is your "why?" Are you looking to get an investment property at 20% down or a primary residence you can house hack (rent the rooms in the house you are living in), or a primary residence (better for people who are married/have kids/don't want roommates) where you live in it for 12 months then rent it when you buy your next property to repeat the process. In my opinion, this is how I have always done, but it takes awhile to see the returns but is good for a long term hold. Being that you are in the bay area, if you wanted to purchase an investment property with 20% +- down, then you may want to look into a cheaper location to start with. However, everyone has their own opinions and ideas. I'd love to jump in and help out! Hey all!

Hey Q!

Glad to know you are wanting to jump in, and you are taking the right steps by being on this platform. You mentioned you do not have a huge budget right now, so here is a suggestion I have, if you are willing to take it upon yourself. I know some investors that live in the Dallas area, but invest where I am at, here in Abilene, Texas. It is a much more affordable market to get into, yet we are seeing great appreciation returns, with a stable job market to include education, solar, energy, manufacturing and military presence requiring housing for all. If you are interested in this area, I am willing to talk and help you out!
