+1 on Quickbooks! It is easy to use (once you get it setup) and it is basically universal, therefor easy to find assistance when needed (plus easy for CPAs come tax time).

Welcome to BP Stephanie. I have never been to Houma, but when I was stationed at Barksdale AFB I used to go to NOLA a few times a year...good times!

Chris O'brien, you entirely missed the point. I would go talk to a career counselor or head hunter, they are probably better able to help you find a job. Stay around BP and keep learning about REI...when you have the funds to start investing you will be ready.

Welcome Jeff. I fully understand your getting out of the military, I just left AD Air Force last summer for the same reasons. No regrets at all, but I was ready to move on. Thanks for your service!

Welcome to BP Nicole! There is debt with risk, and with calculated risks is the potential for reward. In my personal finances, I do not have much debt, but in my business I have quite a bit. The business debt is critical to our business' growth, and without debt it would not be possible for us to be where we are today.

There are a lot of talking heads out there and they each bring their own theories to the table. In general, I don't believe any of them are fully right or wrong, but I have built my own system and theory based on various influences.

If you use the search bar at the top right you can find a ton of previous conversations and debates about debt, it makes for some interesting reading.

Good luck!

Nice Joshua Dorkin, that will help ease my sore neck!

Michael Quarles...ouch, you totally killed the buzz on my thread! I believe the best way to great content is more engaged users, and welcoming new users with open arms is the best way to get them to contribute. When I found BP, one of the reasons I stayed was the amazing spirit of most of the users. Of course the content is great, and it will remain great, but it will be even better if more people participate (and I mean all kinds of people, new investors, old investors, young investors, inexperienced, experienced, etc).

You can avoid the introductions if you so desire. You can navigate to the areas you are more interested in (the intro threads won't show up there). And I agree, people don't come here to read someone saying hello, but people come back here because people said hello. Thanks!

Help Stop Lurking!!!

If you visit BP, whether you are a brand new investor (like I was when I got here) or a seasoned pro, please introduce yourself. More active members in the community means more information to pass around, more eyes helping analyze deals, and more encouragement and accountability.

If you have been waiting to jump in, wait no longer and introduce yourself in an introduction thread of your own. Tell us a little about yourself, where you are from, what (if any) real estate experience you have, and what your goals are. We don't bite..."hard" (in my best Austin Powers voice).

Do IT!
Cheers!
