MOST of our residential tanks buried or not are those oval ones. about 4' high, 2 ' wide and about 5' long. they make good shop stoves with a door fabed in the end.

I have wanted to but not had time to 'stick ' this tank for the elderly lady and see whats in their. I am sure I can find somebody to take the oil if it has some.

I doubt its in the ground much more than a foot to the top ,,,if that.

even driving over it if its mostly rusted out is semi-dangerous

how much in repairs required for a rental or a flip.???

Havent seen the suggestion of dimaciuos earth (sp). It is the active ingredient of 20 mule team borax,,,also is a natural organic farmers friend since its approved for killing insects in organic grain.

Also known as silica sand. It is very lite and fluffy,,harmless to pets and humans, even rated as food grade edible.

It is abrasive to insects only, scratchs there endoskin and causes them to dehydrate. Great stuff for spreading around a home for insect control. Inside and out. It feels like talc powder.

Is it required in all 50 states to have a pro tank removal team remove these?

Reason I ask is 'here' a homeowner can remove asbestoes siding themselves.

I have a friend who is a 75 year old single lady with a gas furnace but an old oil storage tank in her gravel driveway. Can someone remove it that isnt licensed if it isnt leaking???

I told her it would be good to get rid of so when the house is sold next it doesnt pop up on a disclosure.

Where do you look up these regs, are they federal state or local?

'here' pools in sfh take a 10-20K "HIT". No body wants them,,for maintance and liability issues. Plus marketing time is about 3 times as long.

Guy I know wants to put in a pool,,,I ask if he was kidding,,,cause from financial aspect its a waste of money, plus taxes are higher, real value that much lower. Cant win here

'here' if there was that valuable stuff in the units the valuable, pawnable, sellable stuff would be gone and all the junk left behind.

Why would there be ONE antique very valuable antique six barrel pistol in one box of clothes and junk and nothing else in it.

Those shows are all loaded for TV effect and the WOW is put there on purpose.

The guy standing there buying cardboard boxes without opening them,,,for $1-1500 is gonna be broke before he hits a home run.

I like the show however,,,and will attend some local storage wars and see how they go,,,'locally'. They only have one or two a year here.

Just another thought. When I lived on a farm I couldnt get enough cats to keep rodents in check. People drove cats to my place constantly. So ask anybody who lives in the rural country if they NEED them.

put a ad out and try to find them good homes,,,its the right thing to do.

Craigs list and local paper including trader papers are good to try

And it solves other probs. less food for you to buy and less breeding of wild ones.

Altho a few wild ones keep mice population down and thats a GOOD thing. Mice carry so many diseases. AND rats are worse.

dont look a gift horse in the mouth. A good relationship is like a good marriage,,a bad one is worse.

Just a suggestion,,instead of 'repairing' that cast stack you might make a bigger project and replace it all with plastic. Once cast fails it is due to fail again. That stuff is so hard to work with,,plastic much easier. All depends on size and style of house and how much ripping out to get to it ALL. the 2 " cast plugs so easy also.

HOW did he repair it??Silicone? or innertube and hose clamps??

next time THAT house is vacant and needing any repairs,,,its the FIRST thing I would do.
